If you want to start sailing with the VISC, please register as a member and get for more information about what we can offer.
As a beginner you are welcome to come and meet our club members every Thursday (during the sailing season) and get to know us and take your first steps by joining an experienced sailor and crewing a dinghy on the Alte Donau during our weekly one-hour meetings and social event.
Alte Donau, An der Oberen Alten Donau 191, 1220 Vienna
The most productive way to learn to sail is by joining an experienced sailor in a dinghy and “Learn the ropes” this will build your confidence on the water and trust in your crew and the boat.
Our experienced members are always happy to take a beginner out for the first few trips, so explain how you have progress and improve your skills.
As with all sport “Practice Make Perfect”, so it is up to you to register the day before and turn up in good time and partner with another club member for training and you will find that over a few weeks you will enjoy learning in a relaxed environment and chat to our members about your progress.
The VISC has pre-booked 10 boats (pirates) for our club members each Thursday and the deadline for signing up is the day before, Wednesday at 8pm.
2 people are allowed per boat. We advise everyone taking to the water to wear a life vest, so please bring your own or borrow one from Boats2Sail.
The price per boat is €25 for approximately 1 hour of sailing. This is directly payable to Boats2Sail before setting foot on the boa
The VISC arranges club races on Thursdays as part of the annual club’s race series. All members are welcome to join in the racing, because regatta racing a good way to improve your sailing skills and they are a lot of fun.
