2018 Sailing Season Starts Soon
Dust off your sailing gear and get your sea legs ready, the start of the sailing season is now only days away. At VISC we have an exciting sailing season ahead of us with new events as well as the much loved regular ones. This year whether you are an experienced old sea dog or a beginner there is something for everyone.
On 19th April Thursday Evening Sailing at Hofbauer on the Alte Donau starts. The price is the same as last year at 5€ per person. Be there at 17:30 to register and be on the water by 18:00. As always a table will be reserved for afterwards. Starting on 10th May, and every second Thursday thereafter, we start the Thursday Evening racing series. Checkout Thursday Evening Sailing on the VISC website for the full details.
Spring Regatta 2018
The first big event of the season will be the Spring Regatta on the Alte Donau, sailing the Pirats from Hofbauer. If you haven’t entered a regatta or skippered in a regatta before, this is a great opportunity to try it out. The registration is now open on the VISC website, so register early as spaces are limited. VISC Spring Regatta Registration
VISC Sailing Teams
One of the most exciting new things this year is the VISC sailing teams. VISC is setting up two teams to enter the Regional League East and the Sprinto Cup. Both events are being organized by our friends and partners Boats2Sail. Our Vice Commodore, Rebecca, sent out a detailed news letter a few days ago, but if you missed it you can find full details on the VISC website. If you are keen to take part in some serious racing this is an opportunity not to miss.
Training Program 2018
Our Rear Commodore (Training) Anya is organizing a great program of training opportunities ranging from BFA Austrian inshore sailing courses to VHF radio courses. Keep a watch on the website and the WhatsApp group as new training events are posted. Check out the Training Program on the VISC website or get in touch with Anya directly.
Our Dart 18 catamaran “Bob the Cat” will be at its new home in Rust from 14th April. To kick-start the sailing fun, on 14th April there will be the first introductory training session for those wish to sail the catamaran and haven’t yet been to one of the compulsory training sessions. Please let Dave Berry know if you wish to take part, as Dave, also known as The Cat Master, has kindly offered to take over looking after the catamaran for the club this year. Also new this year is the online booking and payment app for using the catamaran. Use the calendar to check the availability and make a booking. Check out the website for more details and costs for using the catamaran.
Have fun on the water!
